About AARON Michlewitz!

Aaron Michlewitz knows the neighborhoods of the 3rd Suffolk District.  He knows many of the people who live here too — and he should.  For his entire life, Aaron has lived here and worked alongside many of us who call these neighborhoods home.  More importantly, Aaron is experienced in finding the right solutions to the problems we face and addressing the issues that matter most in our neighborhoods.

A graduate of Northeastern University, who grew up in Boston’s North End, Aaron has dedicated himself to helping others.  He has become a popular mentor to many of his neighborhood’s youth for whom he has been a fixture throughout organized sports programs.  As a permanent member of the St. Anthony’s Society, an organization devoted to worthwhile fundraising for many causes in Boston’s North End community, Aaron is part of a new generation of Bostonians who remain dedicated to preserving one of Boston’s oldest and long standing cultural traditions.  Aaron is also a member of The Boston Groundwater Trust and is someone who served his community as President of the North End Waterfront Neighborhood Council (NEWNC).  In addition to the issues that affect the Third Suffolk District as a whole, Aaron holds a valuable and unique insight into the issues affecting us at our door steps everyday. For the past four years, he served as former Speaker DiMasi’s Constituent Services Director.  As a proven advocate for the neighborhoods—and the District he has always called home—Aaron has clearly set the example of not only why it is important to give back to our community—but how we should do so.

The proud grandson of Jewish immigrants, Aaron understands the importance of hard work, opportunity and equality.  As a lifelong Democrat who serves on the Ward 3 Democratic Committee, Aaron Michlewitz also understands the need to promote Democratic values when it comes to important issues like choice, equality, the need for affordable healthcare and economic recovery.

Growing up, Aaron was reminded everyday by his father, Dr. Harold Michlewitz, an obstetrics physician, that a career dedicated to public service is not a 9 to 5 job; it requires a different level of dedication and commitment that only comes with experience and hard work.  During a time when Boston has embraced  change, Aaron has emerged as a new type of leader for our City and is determined to do more for the neighborhoods of the Third Suffolk District.   In their May 14, 2009 endorsement of Aaron Michlewitz's candidacy in the Democratic Primary, The Boston Globe recognized this determination saying that "he has done the the honest, day-to-day work of the district."

We need nothing more right now than an energetic leader who not only understands the issues important to all of us—but who has a track record of providing realistic solutions.  The type of dedication and commitment that he has already shown the people of the neighborhoods that make up the 3rd Suffolk is exactly why we should consider supporting Aaron on Tuesday, June 16, 2009 in the Special General Election to be our next State Representative.
